Why not? What happens when you click on 'Write'? What happens when you click on 'Address Book'? Can you see the 'Menu Bar' ...File, Edit. View etc? Can you see the 'Mail Toolbar'.... Menu icon, Get Messages', Write, Address Book' and search text box ?

If you have lost all the top toolbars....

select Thunderbird window so it has focus. Press 'Alt' key on keyboard. This will create a temporary 'Menu Bar' Now set it permanent...'View' > 'Toolbars' > select 'Menu Bar' now get the 'Mail Toolbar' back...'View' > 'Toolbars' > select 'Mail Toolbar'
