I'm running the latest Firefox (50.1.0) and my pocket button disappeared about a month ago. I've tried all the boilerplate recommendations to restore it but nothing works. The Pocket settings appear correct in about:config but the button doesn't show up anywhere else in Firefox.


I also use McAfee's Web Advisor and uBlock. These pre-date pocket though so I doubt they are an issue.

Does the pocket button show in the browser.uiCustomization.state if you check its value on the about:config page?

You can paste the value in the Scratchpad and click the "Pretty Print" button to format the JSON string for readability.

Try to reset browser.toolbarbuttons.introduced.pocket-button on the about:config page and start the Firefox Tour via the Help menu or ? button to see if that brings back the Pocket button. You can also check browser.pocket and extensions.pocket prefs.

Thanks for the reply. The pocket button spec was missing from the browser.uiCustomization.state

When I reset browser.toolbarbuttons.introduced.pocket-button, restarted Firefox, and started a tour I discovered that line had disappeared from about:config. And it didn't restore the pocket button to the menu bar.

So I thought to refresh Firefox to restore the browser.toolbarbuttons.introduced.pocket-button line to about:config and happily my pocket button/icon was restored in the process.
