Is Thunderbird as safe as my browser?
I recently received a message from Yahoo support stating that they noticed I login from other sources and suggested that those other sources may not be as safe as my browser. I currently use my Iphone mail app, Thunderbird on my PC and my Kindle Fire's mail app for sending and receiving emails. Is there any reason to believe that they may be referring to Thunderbird?

It could be Thunderbird. But it could also be the mail app on your Kindle Fire.
What you can do:
- turn on 2-step authentication for Yahoo
- create an app password for Thunderbird and any other mail app if needed
- turn off 'allow less secure apps' in Yahoo account settings
That would significantly improve security for your Yahoo account.
Thank you for the tips! I'm not sure that Thunderbird supports the 2-step authentication so I don't know if that will be an option when using Thunderbird. I suppose I could try it but how will it handle the second authentication? Are there plans to enhance the security in the future so that this will not be an issue? I would not want to give up the encryption that is such a big part of my reason to use it with others that also have Thunderbird.

It doesn't. This is why you'll need to create an app password for Thunderbird.
