The dictionary corrects all the Spanish words. In the Microsoft Outlook it automatically adjusts to whatever language I am using. How do I do this in Thunderbird?

To NOT spell check: When in Write, open options and uncheck spell check as you type To spellcheck in another language you need that dictionary. Also in write under options open check spelling and change language
