Trying to backup my thunderbird emails to an external hard drive.

Trying to backup my thunderbird emails to an external hard drive. Noticed that after moving what I THINK is my Thunderbird folder containing all of my emails, only half email folders show. When I run Thunderbird program they all show up so it is not as if I lost any info. I guess what I need to know is where my program is saving my emails to (so I can find them and back it all up to an external hard drive)
