Good morning,

I have a problem with thunderbird, today as I suppressed emails, the software stopped and my incoming mails are gone, yet the INBOX file still weighs 3.5Go. 

can you help me?

Suppressed = compact or something else? Try redo it in offline-mode. Tbird creates Nstmp-folder and copies the non-deleted mails there. It then deletes original-folder and rename Nstmp. So if you have very limited space make room for a file almost as big as the original (depending on how much you deleted) http://kb.mozillazine.org/Nstmp_folders
