As a long time Firefox fan this problem just started. When I start, I get a message that I need Java Script to access G-mail I had to REFRESH Firefox to enable G-mail again. When I go out of Fire Fox and try to go back in I get the same message that I Need Java Script ???

I think that might be an incorrect error message.

Does JavaScript work on my test page here: https://jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php

If not: You can check the JavaScript "on/off" switch here:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste java and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the javascript.enabled preference is bolded and "user set" to false, double-click it to restore the default value of true.

If JavaScript works on other sites: Maybe an external filter, such as security software, is somehow blocking JavaScript from being loaded or running on Gmail???

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
