I have been using Thunderbird mail service for over 10 years with a business domain configured to go through google's smtp and imap servers. It is set up on my PC and iphone. Has worked flawlessly.
I also have google mail and yahoo mail set up on my iphone. no problems.
This week, I'm having problems with both my thunderbird account (using gmail servers) on my iphone AND on my PC.
On April 28, 2025 I was not able to retreive Thunderbird messages using the mail app on my iphone. I could see all my mail (inbox and sent), but could not retrieve new messages. Small letters at the bottom of my phone said Authentication issues. Yahoo and Google remained working in the mail app on iphone
At home on my PC, I could see all my mail in thunderbird and send and receive messages. I have been on Oauth and I accepted cookies long ago. I am on the most recent version of Thunderbird. And the "place in folder" is configured. I swear I haven't touched a thing in these settings - ever.
Prior to last night, I had a 'sent' and 'sent mail' folder on my PC. 99% of my sent mail was in the "sent Mail" folder. Last night, the "sent mail" folder disappeared. I can now only a "sent" folder and only 47 of some 8000 (estimated) sent emails can be viewed. All of inbox remains fine.
On my iphone, I removed the thunderbird account added it back in to the mail app. the account appears but no messages in the inbox or sent box. When I check the account settings, the imap port is 143. Should I change that?
I do have a saved password in thunderbird on my PC. I've read to delete that saved password and log in again, but now I'm paranoid I'll never get back in.
What is going on?
Thank so much for any help.
