Sometimes an email I receive contains text whose right margin and text is chopped off. I thought this was because the emails were formatted for Google's gmail, but I just received an email from Thunderbird itself that is truncated this way. What's going on?

I'm enclosing a screen shot. I can also send the .eml file if that's helpful.

How can i get new messages in a thread to move the thread to the top? (I have descending order selected) I miss new incoming replies when they sorted weeks or months ago by the original email date.

I have been shifting my email platform from Comcast to the new Yahoo platform. This has worked for my iPhone and for my Thunderbird app on my iMac. But NOTHING works for this on my MacBook Air. My gmail is fine, but the only way I can get to my new Yahoo platform is to sign in via the web browser. Thunderbird will not configure for the MacBook Air, and I've tried 10-15 different things already (not an expert by any means). I have all the proper settings. I have reinstalled Thunderbird on the latter machine.

After I migrated everything to a different computer, 'Local folders' no longer appears in the side bar, so I cannot archive messages locally.

Can some kind person please help me to reinstate it?

When I send an email, a window pops up that shows the sending progress. Emails appear to send and save to the sent folder just fine, but the window doesn't close and will remain open until I press the cancel button. Is it possible to fix this?

Sometimes a search term will pull up many emails I need to sift though, like in the case where it's a common word, like permit. I was searching the term "permit" for building permit emails and got many unrelated emails that were more recent with permit in the email body. I am able to quickly skim and see these are unrelated but the limiting factor is only ten results per page. When I click load more, takes a few moments to load. I was unable to find any way to change this. How can it be done? Should be possible, it's doesn't affect Mozilla's processing because everything is done locally on my machine. I would much rather 100 results to load or to load indefinitely.

Additional question: on that search term, many unrelated emails came up as mentioned before. When I searched the same term in gmail in my internet browser, only relevant emails came up. Why is this? How do I improve the thunderbird search?

Since I upgraded to 152.0.1, some s/mime encrypted messages do not display. This happens for both old and new messages. Moreover, for these messages, the flag of "new" stays active even after I click on it, suggesting that thunderbird did not "read" the message. The encryption is done by posteo.de automatically for any email that arrives to me. Even the simplest email just written "test" fails systematically when I send it to myself, but some messages sent from others also fail to display. I have installed the extended support version 140.12.1esr (aarch64) to check, and the emails display fine with it.

Anyone with a similar issue or idea of the problem, which I guess might be a bug? Thanks, cassio.

There is (of all things!) almost too much information to process about using Firefox's email, messaging, and security options. It seems there is no longer a dedicated email application, and I cannot disentangle what I need to do to either move completely from gmail or mask my gmail account somehow through a maze of layers.

For a week or two I haven't been able to send any email from Thunderbird. I use smtp.gmail.com as my outgoing server, and have it configured using SSL/TLS on port 465 with Oauth2 authentication. I first saw this on an older TB version, but have now updated to Thunderbird 152.0.1 on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.7.

When I try to send email, a dialog pops up saying "Enter credentials" for my account, then "Verify it's you". When I click on Next it asks me to "Complete sign-in using your passkey". I believe at this point another window is supposed to pop up and I can use a fingerprint to enter the passkey, but that window never pops up. I have tried 3 different default browsers: Firefox (my usual one), Google Chrome, and Safari. All behave the same. Firefox might be suppressing Javascript, but the other two certainly aren't.

Is there some system security setting that might be preventing Thunderbird from opening a window in the default browser, or does Thunderbird maintain its own record of the browser? Any other suggestions on how to get the passkey challenge to appear?

I recently migrated from a much older version of Thunderbird where I had been using the Mail Merge add on. In 151/152 most of the variable fields are no longer recognised. Below is the list provided by the developer. I can only get FirstName LastName and PrimaryEmail to merge correctly I troubleshot with Custom1 JobTitle and Nickname to no avail. I've emailed the developer. I suspect Thunderbird has changed the names of the fields in updating the Address Book. Has anyone got a current list of variables for Thunderbird since the Address Book has been rebuilt? Thanks, Greg

I already have View > Sort by > Date is selected, View > Sort by > Descending selected, and thread sorting set in settings. See screenshots. Threads sorting so newest is at the bottom, they should be at the top. General emails are sorting properly, newest at the top.

I´ve been having a problem with thunderbird for a while now and today took the time to do the troubleshoot and checked all the account settings. no firewall, no add ons Researching the problem i came across the incompability of different TLS standards. Apparently when thunderbird updated to 78.0 in 2020 a lot of people had the same problem and solved it by downgrading . Since this problem came on suddenly, possibly when thunderbird upgraded automatically, and it only applys to select emails (about half) I guess different TLS standards, some of which are no longer supported by thunderbird, are the reason for this. If i log in to my mailaccount I can see all the emails, same goes for my mobile devices. That´s how i know thunderbird doesn´t display all the messages. My question: Did anyone else encounter this problem? Did I analize this correctly or did I overlook something? I don´t want to change to another provider. I always liked thunderbird for being simple and clean. But downgrading won´t be a sustainable solution either I guess. Thanx for your help. Have a nice day.

Certain messages in my inbox have the correct header in the actual message, but the wrong sender in the message list - see image.

I've tried repairing the folder, but it makes no difference. Webmail has the correct sender in its message list.

I don't use Archives or Templates. There is no folder on my servers that correspond to these and they are not subscribed in my IMAP settings.

They don't appear in the per-account view. But they somehow appear in the unified folder view.

I am not able to figure out how to make them disappear.

Help.

I am running 152.0 (aarch64) on MacOS Tahoe.

I have noticed lately that Sent mail is often marked as unread. I can mark the folder read, yes, but I am wondering whether this is a bug or a feature. If it's a feature, I don't understand the benefit.

But specifically, I believe the bug/feature may be isolated to mail you send to yourself. I often will send myself reminders or links for later perusal, and I believe this may be part of the issue I'm identifying.

The presumption being if I sent a message, I have read it and therefore marking it unread isn't really useful.

Anyone notice this, and am I missing something (like a setting)?

Have been using Thunderbird and Firefox for decades, naturally, and have several email accounts. Within each account, I'm a prolific user of folders within the respective Inboxes. For years, these folders have remained in Alphabetical Order, as when they were set up. Recently, however, for no reason that I can suss, the sub-folders in the Inbox of one of my accounts have been gone "all agley", ie. they're listed all higgledy-piggledy in random order. This isn't a problem for my message filter - but it's a real problem for me, having to scan down a very long, disorganised list to find any particular folder I want to open. I've searched for an instruction to instruct Thunderbird to arrange the Folders in my Inbox in Alphabetical Order and can't find anything. Can anyone help me, please. I am getting a lot of email dated a month of more in the future. How do I best filter these out as junk? I tried making a regular filter, but can't find a way to set it to "greater than today."
