Update to Version 5 says Logmein plugin 1.0.0.652 is not compatible. Does this mean I can't use Logmein if I update to Firefox 5? in English
When preparing to update Firefox 4 to Firefox 5, a message appears that say Logmein plugin 1.0.0.652 is not compatible. I require Logmein every day. So should I stay at FF4 until this is fixed?

The LogMeIn add-on was updated the other day to "LogMeIn, Inc. Remote Access Plugin version 1.0.0.664".
To try to get this pushed to you, uninstall the old add-on, then log in to LogMeIn again.
To uninstall:
orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Add-ons
On the left side, click Extensions. Here you should be able to remove and restart.
Then log in to LogMeIn again and the new version should be pushed to you.
Once you have it, you can proceed with your upgrade to Firefox 5.
Did it work?

You shouldn't have to stay with Firefox 4 in order to use LogMeIn, as the addon is likely still compatible with your Firefox browser. It simply has not been defined as compatible in the extension's own code. The extension is built with a file called 'install.rdf' in it, and this file has information in it such as the highest version number the extension will be able to be added to. Some of the time this does not actually mean the extension is incompatible.
If you want to be absolutely certain that LogMeIn will work with Firefox 5, you can wait for the company to release an updated version of their extension, or you can modify the extension yourself in order to attempt to make it compatible. This can be done by downloading the extension from the Mozilla Addons website, by right-clicking the download option and going to 'Save link as'. Save it somewhere you can find it again, and then right click the file once it is downloaded. Open it with a program such as WinRAR (I highly recommend WinRAR, though other alternatives exist). Inside the folder you will see a file called 'install.rdf'. Open it with a text editor such as Notepad, and you will see a line called "maxVersion". Inside quotation marks there will be a number, such as 4.0 or 4.3. If a Firefox version number is over the maxVersion then it will not allow the addon to install.
Change this value to something else, but do not change anything else. Save it, and then close Notepad. You will be prompted, at least in WinRAR, that the folder has been changed. Say 'Yes' to the window and then open your Addons Manager in Firefox, and go to the Extensions field. Drag the extension folder in here, and it will then proceed like installing a regular extension to the browser. If you want to do this I suggest updating beforehand, but if you need absolute certainty that the extension will work it may prove better to remain in Firefox 4 for now.
version 1.0.0.664 works in Firefox 5. No need for hacking in this case.
This worked fine. Had to actually get to the point of trying to log in to my remote site before the new add-on message popped up, but it did, updated, and everything works. Thanks for your help.
Thanks. I was reluctant to try this since if it DIDN'T work, I'd have a serious problem. Easier to stay at 4. But in fact as the previous message indicated, there was a new update that was compatible, so that's the route I went. You have a great knowledge of the nuts and bolts of add-ons. I enjoyed your solution and the logic behind it.
I have tried this earlier and it failed to work for me. I have removed the plugin, and when I log into logmein rescue, I get the "Unsupported Browser". I have resorted to using Internet Explorer (which is slow in comparison) as my work around until this is fixed.
The other issue is working with Zoho Corp's Manage Engine Service Desk and Desktop Central. If I use Firefox, it doesn't post properly. Half the time it fails to poll information that is being displayed from the SQL database. No such issues in Internet Explorer - and again - I detest IE and would much rather be working in Firefox but I need to still be able to work.

The plugin for the standard versions (FREE, PRO) has been updated, but perhaps the Recscue interface has not been updated yet??
You can use the portable version of Firefox 3.6 to work with one or two specific sites, but if you need to use many sites, it might be easier to roll back your day-to-day version.
