Firefox update messed up all my bookmarks and settings.
My bookmarks and settings are so messed up. I am frustrated as I am working on a project, and the browser no longer has the functionality it had before. I am considering switching to another browser in the next couple of days unless it is repaired.

I'd first check whether Firefox has switched to a different profile after the update. Type about:profiles in the address bar and see if your old profile is still listed. Your bookmarks, settings, and extensions may still be there under another profile. Don't reset or reinstall Firefox just yet, as that could make recovery harder.
Does your old profile appear when you open about:profiles?
Thank you for your help. My old profile is not there. Didn't know I had one, so I may have reset it. The software developers should have tried to see if the updates worked before installing them, I thought my computer was going to crash last night, could not move back and forth between tabs easily.
