How do I delete an account when "Primary account email required for reset"?

I'm trying to add a new email address to my account as I'm getting rid of my old email address. When I try to add it, it tells me it's already in use on another account. (I'm pretty sure I haven't used that for another account, but maybe...)

When I then try to login using that email, or reset the password, it tells me "Primary account email required for login/reset". Now I'm pretty darned sure I haven't used that email for another account with yet a third email address. How do I go about deleting whatever account that is so I can use my email address with my existing account?

If you can't remember the password or get the password reset there's nothing more any users on here can do as no one here has access to that account. That's a Lost account at this point in time.

I have the password (if it's an actual account), it just doesn't let me log in with the "Primary account email required for login" message.

Is there a way to get to actual Firefox folks to get them to delete or unassociate the email?
