bringing over bookmarks from old laptop to new laptop
Hi, I recently purchased a new laptop and want to bring over the bookmarks I had from my old laptop. I had copied what I thought was the profile from the old one and copied it into the new laptop - but I'm not sure of the next steps :(.

No apologies are necessary :). Yes, I still have my old laptop - I always keep it around in case i realize I missed something.
I found that folder - can I copy it over - I'm not quite sure if I follow the whole restore - but will try and figure that out.
Thanks for your help!!!!

If you look in the profile folder, does it have a subfolder named bookmarkbackups?
If so, you can use the Restore feature in your new/up-and-running installation of Firefox to replace the built-in bookmarks with the contents of one of your backups. See:
Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
Note: the Restore menu won't list your old files automatically, you need to select Choose File and then point Firefox to the relevant file. Each file has its creation date coded into its name, so try the latest first.
Success?
Hi, Thanks for responding! A friend had instructed me to go to c drive/users/myname/appdata/local/mozilla. And he said to copy the profile - but that didn't work. And I don't see bookmarkbackups.
But, as I am reading your response, I noticed under my user name there is a folder Favorites - I wonder if I copied this over to the new computer - would that work?
Thoughts
Sorry, do you still have the old computer or a recent backup? The folder under AppData/Local/Mozilla is just some temp files, you need the folder under AppData/Roaming/Mozilla.
Also, just in case, to unhide the AppData folder:

You can drop it into your Downloads folder or somewhere easy to find. I didn't mention how to do a whole-folder transplant, but I can give you a link if that is something you might want to try -- note that your source folder will be different from this example:

Thanks again - I had clicked on that and wound up at a string of Q&A with some very nasty people - wow
