Can I still access my gmail after making firefox my default browser
I'm not very good at operating my laptop. I wanted to be sure that I will be able to read and reply to messages sent to my g mail
account whilst I am in process of transferring to Firefox.
I want to create a new email account with a new provider which will offer me
more privacy then g mail.

Yes, you should be able to use any email service on the web (like Gmail or any other email provider) in Firefox and in other browsers in the same way.
Just make sure you visit the right page for your email service and that you use the correct login information.
