Firefox 32 and not 64 - I need java
This is in followup to a previous question on FF 32 vs 64 which doesn't really address this problem.
I need Java for an application (though work) that uses it and over which I have no control. FF64 doesn't - insofar as I can determine - either have or support a Java implementation. So, that's fine, I'll use FF32.
However it appears that the 64 bit version is going to be "forceably installed" with any updates. Is this actually so, that I cannot choose or block this conversion? If so, what's going to happen with Java? This is a pretty widely used too....

The Java plugin currently only runs in the Extended Support Release of Firefox 52, and on Windows, only in the 32-bit version of that release.

Since you are running 64-bit Firefox 55 now, you may want to consult this article about switching, but reverse the numbers in your mind: How to switch from 32-bit to 64-bit Firefox.
