Hi, I decided to reinstall Thunderbird having upgraded to Windows 10. I want to use my live.com address which I had done before but when I use the automatic configuration process I receive the notification that my username or password is not recognised. I am using my email address as username and copied my live.com password which gets me into my live.com/outlook account. I had this problem before upgrading. I have actually upgraded on a new PC as I was using Vista on my old unreliable PC and thought everything would run smoothly on the new PC but unfortunately not. I have limited IT skills so am not sure if I have entered the correct user name and password but presumed they were those I use for livemail. Can anyone help me out and advise me how to get Thunderbird up and running ? I have got Windows 10 Mail but thought I would carry on withThunderbird.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I had the IMAP option button as default on the automatic configuration which is how it was set on my previous PC.

UPDATE JUNE 28TH:

  Still have password problem using IMAP so cannot complete Thunderbird set up. Considering uninstalling Thunderbird, reluctantly, and trying the Windows 10 mail client although noticed a less than favourable review.

Please stop inserting spaces before you message so it is readable.
