Hi,

I decided to reinstall Thunderbird having upgraded to Windows 10. I want to use my live.com address which I had done before but when I use the automatic configuration process I receive the notification that my username or password is not recognised. I am using my email address as username and copied my live.com password which gets me into my live.com/outlook account. I had this problem before upgrading. I have actually upgraded on a new PC as I was using Vista on my old unreliable PC and thought everything would run smoothly on the new PC but unfortunately not. I have limited IT skills so am not sure if I have entered the correct user name and password but presumed they were those I use for livemail. Can anyone help me out and advise me how to get Thunderbird up and running ? I have got Windows 10 Mail but thought I would carry on withThunderbird.

Are you using POP? You may need to visit the live.com website, check the settings and make sure that POP is enabled.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I had the IMAP option button as default on the automatic configuration which is how it was set on my previous PC.

UPDATE JUNE 28TH:

Still have password problem using IMAP so cannot complete Thunderbird set up. Considering uninstalling Thunderbird, reluctantly, and trying the Windows 10 mail client although noticed a less than favourable review.
