After new installation use old profile

After new installation I want to use my profile of the former installation. In principle I followed the procedure of the article "An einem anderen Ort wiederherstellen". … (daɗa karatu)

After new installation I want to use my profile of the former installation. In principle I followed the procedure of the article "An einem anderen Ort wiederherstellen". After that when starting thunderbird it always asks me to create a new account.

Does anyone know what is missing?

Thunderbird is difficult to maintain consistent operation.

Periodically, the font color changes without warning, and your settings options is very limited and or 'WELL' hidden.

Making it virtually impossible to find out how to change various screen graphical settings, such as 'font color' or 'font size', etc.

This is not the first time my font color has changed, and I can't find out how to reset the font color in the Calendar editor for any particular calendar event, either creating and or editing a change to the calendar event.

So please, provide me with an instruction on how to change the font color in ANY calendar event, via your Calendar editor.

My Calendar editor in the comments block is set currently with a black background and 'black' font color. So I cannot read a darn thing in the comments block. FYI, when currently using the mail editor, I have a white background with black text, working OK. But NOT the calendar editor.

After all these years, you would of thought Mozilla, either Firefox or Tbird, would have provided a good help dialogue on screen to inform users on how to do things like this. You either have done so and kept it a trade secret, and or have NOT improved upon your terrible user guide instructions.

Single message can not be deleted

For some strange reason, I have one message in my inbox that does not display in the window below it (just a blank window) and the message subject line can not be deleted… (daɗa karatu)

For some strange reason, I have one message in my inbox that does not display in the window below it (just a blank window) and the message subject line can not be deleted at all. Message title has been there for a week now, shows up every time I start Thunderbird but it can not be displayed or deleted. I have received, read and deleted dozens of message since, it just remains as if haunting the app in defiance of any common sense at all. How do I delete it?

The image shows the message selected and the blank window below, once I select another message and then go back to this rouge message, the previous messages window remains, the blank window does not come back up, Indicated to me that there is nothing in this rouge window to be displayed, hence it is blank if the first message selected.

I'm running Thunderbird Version: 153.4.0esr Build-ID: 20260929234349 (more details at the end). Lsat update was on Oct.. 2nd. These days I observed a behavior of the quick filter, which i had not observed before: When I enable the quickfilter, but all filter options off (!) , some mails are hidden. One of the mails is unread. When I activate the option to show only unread mails, It still gets not displayed. The message only reappears when I disable quick filter again. I have cleared the start-cache, I have started in troubleshooting mode, I have deleted the global index and let thunderbird rebuiold it from scratch. No matter what I did, the error persisted. Even entering a search word i.e. Atomstrom to find the message, it did not show up.

Attached are two screen shots. one with quickfilter off, the other with quickfilter on. The Mails with the red box on screenshot with quickfilter off are missing, when quick filter is activated.

Is it a bug or a user-error?

Hi, since beginning of October 2026 I cannot access my multiple AOL-accounts in Thunderbird under Windows 11. I am prompted to the AOL page, insert PW but at the end: "an error occurred". The PW is valid; I can log in to the aol-accounts on the AOL-homepage.

I already set all methods to OAuth2 and set usePrivatBrowser to true as mentioned in the forum; but it does not work. Any ideas?

Thunderbird will not let me move messages to the trash folder. If I do move a message to the trash bin the message will re-appear in the in-box. I have tried to follow the steps in the Mozilla support website but that did not work. When I try to delete a message I get the following:

I am using an HP desktop machine running W11. This problem did not happen until I switched to the W11 machine.

Sur ma messagerie Thunderbird, je n'arrive par à joindre un fichier (PJ) dans un message départ. - Quand je clic sur "Ajouter une pièce jointe", aucune fenêtre ne s'ouvre (Finder)

Quand je suis sous Linux, tout fonctionne bien.

I'm using Thunderbird on Ubuntu 24 and have some messages in some mailboxes that have lost their headers. I'm trying to fix them.

Early (1980's command line mail & mailx) mbox files were pure text with messages delimited by a blank line followed by a line starting with 'From ' (or possibly 'From: '). When I open a Thunderbird mbox file in 'vi' it is 'converted', or so it says. I'm wondering what this 'conversion' is and why it's needed.

Please could someone tell me what the strict rule that delimits messages in a Thunderbird mbox file is, and what is it that 'vi' cannot handle that requires 'conversion'?

We are experiencing a problem with the attachment feature in Thunderbird following a recent system update on our computer.

Since the update, the Attach option in emails no longer works, preventing us from attaching files to our outgoing messages. We use this feature very frequently in our daily work, as we regularly send documents by email, so this issue is causing significant difficulties for us.

Could you please help us resolve this problem? We would appreciate any guidance or troubleshooting steps you could provide.

It's very odd. Normally moving an email, say from the Inbox to the relevant year's archive, takes "no time at all".

Which is true for all the mailboxes shown on the attached screenshot, EXCEPT for the four at the bottom. Moving even one message from Inbox to Yiddish can take ten seconds or longer (with the dreaded "Not Responding" occasionally). Moving something in the opposite direction is also screwy, only from those four.

I had thought that it was because they're rather large. This first started when there were just Yiddish and MSW, and I split off most of the earlier years into the archives shown. To no avail.

It's only an annoyance, but I'm puzzled about how such a thing could happen.

Also very slow tagging or untagging a message just in those mailboxes.
