Ads appear on web pages which have nothing to do with the site I am looking at, but which advertise a service. e.g. I looked at GFI and MSP services. Next I am looking at a sight for Universal Classification and look , an ad for GFI MSP services pops up.

I do not want any ads, or my behaviour tracked. Why does Firefox purport to block this? Yes I know that they say it is voluntary if you ask to tell sites you do not want to be tracked. And BTW I use DuckDuckGo and not the dreaded Bing (sometimes) or Google (never)

The thing is, that it doesn't really prevent the site from tracking you, it's only asking the site not to. The site shows targeted adds based on your IP address, so the only way to fully prevent it from showing targeted adds, is to install an adblocker or use a proxy/VPN to spoof your IP address.
