I am running Firefox 5, McAfee Site advisor is blocked. I contacted McAfee and they said it won't work with Firefox 5 and that I should use an ealier version of FF or use IE. Is there a patch coming to allow Site Advisor to work on FF 5?

As above McAfee apparently feels the fault is with FF. I will admit that under the latest 3 version it worked fine. I skipped version 4 because of some things a read about it. I did go with FF5.

I don't mean to talk bad about McAfee, but it is really bad. For Site advisor Live, it normally takes a month for a workable update for your browser to be released. You might want to download updates the long way (somehow this way gets the latest version whereas checking for updates doesn't...) - go to programs and features. double click on McAfee. Click on uninstall Site Advisor. Restart your system and go to the Site Advisor website. Download the Free Site advisor (TRUST ME). Now check your version and you should automatically have the live one. DO NOT EVER CONTACT TECHNICAL HELP. THEY WILL ACCESS YOUR COMP REMOTELY AND COPY YOUR PERSONAL FILES. IT HAPPENED TO ME. THEY WILL ESCALATE U TO TIER 2 AND THEY WILL BLAME THE PROBLEM ON YOUR SYSTEM. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE THEY DID THE SAME THING TO ME AND MY SOLUTION IS FOOLPRROF. THEY SHOWED IT TO ME AND I AM SAVING U THE BURDEN OF DOWNLOADING GOTOASSIST.EXE. BTW- after your subscription is over, go for Windows Security Essentials, much more effective. It detected 2 viruses which McAfee didnt. Afterall, it is made by Windows for Windows, so it will be more effective.

When I went to delete Site Adviser 3.3.1 all I was the whole McAfee program. I opened it saw that there were two removes. One for McAfee virus and one for McAfee site adviser. When I checked just the site adviser I got a warning about it possibly voiding my prepaid subscription. Before doing that I checked to see what was the latest independent downloadable site adviser. It turned out to be 3.2 apparently 3.3.1 is the latest version.

I tried downloading WOT but could not. Having a suspicious mind I turned off McAfee firewall. WOT installed just fine. When I turned the firewall back on, WOT remained fully functional. I will stick with it until some sort of update comes out from someone relating to McAfee site adviser. If I delete and reactivate I think I will just get version 3.3.1 again.

The McAfee Site Advisor add-on is blocklisted by Mozilla due to that Site Advisor extension being the #2 cause of crashing the Firefox 5.0 betas. McAfee was notified of the problem long before that extension was added to the blocklist. Now it is up to them to fix it.

I have read that McAfee is working on a re-written version that is projected to be available in the 3rd week of July.

Quite honestly, with McAfee taking the position that this problem is with Firefox or is Mozilla's fault, when that add-on has a long history of being PROBLEMATIC, I have lost the little respect I had for McAfee being a respectable, ethical company. Of course, my level of respect for McAfee was low to begin with due to problems I had with their software 10 years ago causing me to re-format my PC bi-weekly immediately after their security scans on a Win98 PC, and haven't used their stuff since once I discovered their software was causing my problem with lost video card drivers repeatedly.

Thanks Js Dart for your help in this matter. I have a website that is GREEN with McAfee Site Advisor and want to have the faith and support, not just in Mozilla but also McAfee, whom I have purchased many pieces of Software in the past from. Now I use Microsoft Security Essentials.

I will try and do what you suggest as I did try the upgrade last week but to no avail unfortuneately. I also need the SA for my own personal reassurances that I don't mistakenly run into something other than a GREEN website.

I understand that it takes some time for developers to fix patches etc but McAfee should be working more closley with Mozilla in these matters especially when both both companies are continually upgrading their software.

So we wait patiently for the paatch to be fixed and look forward again sometime soon to GREEN RED GREY & AMBER.....
