Multiple blank windows opening at startup. None of the articles resolve this problem.
Each time I start FF4 app. 25 blank windows open up... not tabs, windows. Any solutions I've found do not fix this problem... anyone have any ideas as there are no urls, names or anything else associated with these windows. Thanks

This can be a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder
Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

Thanks so much Cor-el... worked perfectly once I realized I had to delete the session files after I closed FF.

Wouldn't it be simpler to:
- At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options
- Select the General panel.
- From the When Firefox starts drop-down, select Show my home page or Show a blank page
- Click OK to close the Options window
or are the results different when you delete sessionstore.js?

This worked for me. I had to do it twice but eventually it stopped opening multiple tabs. Mozilla and others have tried to play this off as a possible malware problem. It's not a malware problem...it's a firefox problem.

Still having the same problem after deleting sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak. When I close Firefox with more panels and open again, it opens multiple blank windows and features "Restore previous session" and "previously closed panels" are disabled. Closed panels are no longer available.
I also tried to disable option "View panels from last session" and set it to "Blank page", but when I changed it back it had no effect.

I just had this problem and I think I fixed it last night, because it hasn't happened today so far.
I erased all of the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files, then I deleted my cookies, cleared the cache all together, then I deleted all of my temporary internet files.
I haven't had the problem since.
Today I opened up firefox and the the tabs I had from last night were still there, but not the extra 5 or 6 blank ones that always opened up whenever I tried to open up firefox
