Hi,

I recently had to re-instal my Operating system from Win7 64Bt to Win 7 32Bit but did not have time to back up my bookmarks. I did however have a copy of the folder from the Program files directory and the Roaming directory. I thought id be able to copy the relevant files over but i cannot find any bookmark or places files anywhere. Alos the new install folders look different to the backups i have. Have i lost all my book marks?

You can find the Firefox Profile Folder in this location:

  • Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders

Thanks for the speedy reply!!! Thats the folder i've back up but inside the profile folder there is a Cache folder, an offlineCashe folder, a urlclessifier3 file, an XPC file and a XUL file only

Make sure that you look in Roaming and not in Local

The cache folder with the files that you posted should be here:

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

I was 110% sure it was the roaming file i backed up. Ah well. looks like the same thing has happened to my email which is far worse! i can get my bookmarks back but the email is a problem. Thanks for your help!
