Hello,

My Thunderbird is on 140.0ESR - just updated yesterday. This morning I am noticing that when I open an email to read, and then close it, my inbox automatically scrolls from the top of the box to the place where that just read email is located. It used to just close and I could open the next one - now it goes through this momentary, fast scroll and then stops at the most recently read. It doesn't seem to matter if there are unread messages in the mailbox - it does the same thing when all messages have been read.

Very strange behavior - and just started with 140.0ESR.

Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

ETA - this only seems to happen when the messages are sorted by date with the most recent at the bottom of the list. If the order is reversed, it doesn't seem to do that. But new behavior with the update and I would rather to have newest messages at bottom and no scrolling.

What you describe matches to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1968967. It's still under investigation.

Thanks - so there's no fix for this? In the bug info it mentions something about ui.prefersReducedMotion=1 - how would I access that to check and see if that setting is correct? Where would that be found?

After reading through the bug report info this is what seems to work for me:

1. TB config editor 2. Search for the setting ui.prefersReducedMotion 3. Change Boolean to Number 4. If value is 0, change value from 0 to 1
