Email text runs on without paragraph marks
Hello,
I'm having an issue with Thunderbird where some of the emails which I have sent display without paragraph marks: all of the text runs into itself.
For example, a message displays as follows:
Hi Megan1. Siemens is responsible to ensure the part number chosen is correct for our application.2. There is no reason we can see why there cannot be 4 identical relays. That is the case with the 7SJ63 you proposed.3. Please find a way to eliminate an odd relay - all 4 must be interchangeable with each other. Sincerely,
However it was sent as follows:
Hi Megan
1. Siemens is responsible to ensure the part number chosen is correct for our application.
2. There is no reason we can see why there cannot be 4 identical relays. That is the case with the 7SJ63 you proposed.
3. Please find a way to eliminate an odd relay - all 4 must be interchangeable with each other.
Sincerely,

Which email program are the recipients using? Do the messages look OK in your Sent folder? Are you sending html format or plain text?
I don't know what email program the recepient's are using. The emails are messed up in my Thunderbird sent mail folder.
I am sending using html, although they do appear as plain text in my Thunderbird sent mail folder. They show their proper html format and paragraph marks when looking at the same email in my sent mailbox from within the online Gmail interface.
Just to confirm, your gmail sent messages are stored in Gmail's Sent Mail folder, which you are subscribed to in TB, and you have unchecked 'Place a copy in' in the Copies & Folders section for the account in Tools/Account Settings, since gmail automatically copies messages to Sent Mail?
Hard to say why the messages lose the formatting when they are copied to Sent Mail. Does the same thing happen in safe mode (hold Shift when you launch TB)?
Correct, I'm looking at the messages in the Gmail sent folder, which I've subscribed to in Thunderbird. And correct, I have the setting for "Place a copy in' unchecked.
Note that when I move the emails to a folder (aka label) the formatting issue remains.
Is there any security program adding a signature, e.g. 'This message was scanned by AV", or do you have a custom signature that might be affecting the formatting?
There is no additional comment added to the signature from an external program such as antivirus software.
The problem seems to be with how emails which I have sent using my Samsung Galaxy S4 Samsung email app are displayed in Thunderbird.
These sent emails display properly in my Samsung email and in Gmail. The problem appears in Thunderbird.
OK, so the problem isn't with messages sent with TB, but messages sent by the S4 that are viewed by TB in Sent Mail. As a test, I sent a message that looks like yours, with three paragraphs, using the Gmail (from a gmail account) and Outlook (from a Hotmail account) apps on an Android phone (an S4 Mini). Both messages looked correct when viewed in a recipient account in TB, and both sent messages looked correct in the TB sent folders.
This leads me to believe the Samsung mail app is the source of the problem.
I understand where you're coming from.
It seems to me that it is a problem in the interaction between emails sent from the Samsung email app and Thunderbird. For some reason Thunderbird is "mis-interpreting" the message that is sent from the Samsung app.
It appears to me that most email clients are interpreting the message correctly. (I base this on the fact that the emails display correctly for most recipients, and that the emails display correctly in gmail.)
