for the last few days I have not been able to access wikipedia.org due to security certificate error SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER as wikipedia is a very mainstream site I am surprised they would have this issue. It affects firefox, chrome and MS Edge

Since all of your browsers are affected, it may be some external factor such as:

  • security software that filters your web connections
  • "parental control" software that filters your web connections
  • firewall software
  • ISP settings error
  • proxy server settings error
  • private VPN/Hola/TOR settings error
