Lately on at least two of my computers I can't get FireFox to play any video content except from Plex which from what I understand uses direct play. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both Firefox and Adobe Flash Player numerous times and I can't get any different results the embedded players just are all black. I don't know what to do about this but you certainly can't use a browser that doesn't have some of the main function a browser needs I have been using Chrome to watch videos but fear I will have to switch completely from Firefox

Are these flash, or something else, like the html5player?

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
