Can you defer sending of a message until the next time Thunderbird checks for new messages
I am a relatively new user of Thunderbird. It seems that Thunderbird always connects to the outgoing SMTP server as soon as I hit "Send" and this sometimes results in the email being sent hanging around on the screen for some time before the action has been completed. I am wary of flipping to another application whilst the send is in progress as several times the send has failed.
Is there any way of configuring Thunderbird so that outgoing messages are not actually sent to the SMTP server until the next scheduled check for new messages? I would prefer to have one long delay to having lots of small delays.
I am running Thunderbird 31.4.0 under Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and most of my outgoing emails are going to a Hotmail account.
Thanks Tim

Maybe the addon Send Later solves your problem. Another possibility is to swith to offline mode of TB for a while: See http://mzl.la/1ApHmDa.
Just use Send Later instead of send. If you want to schedule the later transmission of message then the add on is helpful.
