Cursor is working for normal things but not when trying to click on a box. Examples: On eBay I can type in amt of my bid but when a click "BID" it doesn't do anything. When I fill out a registration and click "Submit", nothing happens. Just tried to register on a site. Clicked "I Agree", even though the hand appears over the box, nothing happens.

This just started happening in the past couple days.

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, choose History, and then Clear Recent History....
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

If the above does not help,

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar

Select Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

I don't know which one of the above answers worked or if they both worked. When the "Register" button still didn't work after deleting all my cache and cookies, I restarted in Safe Mode.

As suggested by Fred, I poked around and tried the "Register" button again. Nothing.

But when I closed Firefox and reopened, the "Register" button on the website worked just fine.

So thank you, Andrew & Fred, for fixing my problem.

Your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.

The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there. You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
