My earlier version of Firefox allowed me to place my downloads as I felt, rather than making me transfer them from downloads to their file. Now with my new version installed in my new laptop, it disregards the ask where to save option selected. PLEASE FIX THIS, i don't want to have to change browsers but I will since it will be easier in the long run in comparison to regularly transferring download files.

How can I change the settings so downloads default to the last folder used. This is especially useful when you download several files to the same location versus having to drill down to a specific folder every time. Thanks Peter

How can i configure the download settings so that it shows me tha same folder for saving files as the one i last used? Recently, i´ve had to select a specific folder, which now always appears when i want to save a file. Before, it was always the one i´d last used, which is much more practical for my work

My PC is a desktop.

If I am using Firefox Private Browsing and download (and save) a jpg, it gets deleted when I close the Firefox private window. I save the file as 'image001.jpg' or whatever...

I can copy the saved jpg to a different directory (prior to closing Firefox) and that file does not get deleted, however the original saved jpg get deleted the moment I close Firefox.

I'm just surprised, as it seems to me that this shouldn't happen even if private viewing...

When I click on pictures from Onedrive, Nightly shows the pictures as a film negative. I would like to change what file type is handled by Nightly, but don't see the option to change this. Where do I select file types in settings?

When uploading photos, Firefox is not Showing the last folder used. Normally, when uploading a photo from a certain folder, the next time you do that, the same folder shows up unless you choose a different one. Now, it keeps going to one specific folder even though I uploaded from a different folder previously.

Example: say I uploaded a photo from my folder "sympathy pics". Then I upload a photo from "my documents". The next upload pop-up box still pops up the "sympathy pics" folder when it should bring up "my documents".

Can someone please help me?

Sorry if this is addressed elsewhere but I could not find it. After a recent update Firefox (Windows 11) started each website file download (mostly pdfs) at the Downloads folder. Previously, it would start at the most recent folder to which I downloaded a file. Since nearly all of my downloads are in a few neighboring folders way down the folder tree, I now have a ton of navigating to do for every single download. This is not sustainable. I have done a lot of Googling and investigated several suggested changes to about:config. I changed browser.download.folderList from 1 to 2. I made sure that browser.download.useDownloadDir is false. No effect. Any other suggestions? I am considering abandoning Firefox altogether. It has issues with some parts of the Medicare website. And an earlier update seemingly eliminated my ability to set a particular web page (Google) for new tabs, due to which I often wait a while for the page to appear, then realize I must click on Home. I like Firefox , but too many issues are accumulating and I can't seem to find solutions. Thanks for any help.

Hi Team, I am facing an issue that i have setup the download setting of PDF file as save file and automatically download in my system. but firfox is not working as expected.

Today Firefox updated in my laptop (I have Windows 11) to its current 157.0 version, I found out that when I download something (and it is saved in my Downloads folder), whenever I want to upload ANYTHING to any other website I can upload something, the path somewhat gets stuck in the Downloads folder. ANYTHING.

I closed Firefox, thinking this was probably an error or something similar since it updated, I open again. I try to upload anything, the last path it remembers is exactly the one from where I'm uploading a file, but it's the same in every website I am using (instead of Firefox remembering the paths from each website I have used, for example, it would normally be Documents in "y", a random folder in Documents in "z", but now it's Documents in y, z, etc.). And then, I decide to download something... and then it gets stuck in the Downloads folder again. And it gets reset as I close and open Firefox.

I dunno what to do, haha. It's very annoying, because it's extra clicks... and then the path getting defaulted to Downloads if I'm downloading something, like saving an image.

This is probably a bug... as I didn't have this problem yesterday, and coincidently! This just started happening as Firefox updated to 157 (I also tested this in another profile I have for testing purposes - it's exactly the same behavior). I might have to report this as a bug.

I don't even know where to look at to "restore" this, I have searched a bit (if that's located in about:config), but frankly? I have found nothing, and those options I see suggested elsewhere are empty fields or I have to add them in the config flags? I also don't know about coding, tbh.

Is there a way to fix this or wait until Mozilla recognizes it might be a bug?

I am unable to download Gmail attachments, they are getting downloaded without extension and this is happening since last few days.

This didn't use to happen before, tried and tested with multiple emails and multiple attachments, if I refresh the browser and then try immediately it works correctly, but if I leave the browser idle or navitgate through multiple emails then it gets downloaded without extenstion. Tried clearing cache for all websites, still it persists.

I haven't changed anything in Firefox Browser settings. But when I open a bank statement, it is opening in the firefox browser, not in Acrobat. For years it opened in Acrobat. I checked Firefox Settings - Downloads for .pdf and it is still set to open them in Acrobat application. I have toggled the options, but still will not open in Acrobat. I have rebooted PC and tried again, still not opening the .pdf in Acrobat. Please advise what I should do Thank you

Why would the developers of Firefox remove the ability to select where an attachment can be saved?

This is like going back to the dark ages of web browsing.

I receive many attachments for my job, I don't want them all to save in the same location. It's a pain to have to retrieve them from my "Downloads" (or whatever) folder, to put them where they belong. This is not a small thing. It's a real pain to have everything go to the same location.

Other browsers allow you to choose where to save a particular file. I think Firefox used to allow that, too. Why would you change this?

I use Firefox for my work emails, but I think I will need to switch to another browser. 

I support a number of people in my job. I have been recommending Firefox to use. That will stop now.
