When i followed the directions to remove outfoxtv, it totally changed the way I had firefox set up. I want it back, but not the outfoxtv. It did give me a desktop "oldfirefox data" icon and data. Thanks for any help.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

The Old Firefox Data folder should contain your old settings folder (profile folder) as it was when you ran the Reset.

The simplest thing (ha ha) is to resurrect the old profile folder and then remove/reset just what you want to remove instead of using Reset.

You might also check your extensions for anything suspicious there. Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable or remove.
