Firefox crashes on some websites that use certain parts of JavaScript.
Does not crash when I turn off JavaScript. Crashes on some websites depending on their ads, and in some cases their own scripting. I think I have a corrupt Windows system library but I can't figure out which one it is or if it can be repaired. Affects IE as well. WinXP fully patched. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Java. ZoneAlarm sometimes detects browser instability and shuts it down.

Having a good hosts file on your system can protect your entire system cross-application and all browsers and all your Firefox profiles against a lot malware. The hosts file must coded for www.example.com, example.com, anything.example.com -- Adblock Plus is more generic and can do more with less coding. See links below.
I don't see how fiddling with my hosts file will help. My hosts file is fine. I'm not talking about preventing malware, I'm talking about identifying what I presume is a broken DLL so I can replace it with one that's correct.
The problem happens with sites like CNN, Ain't It Cool News, Washington Post, Lowe's, etc.
I'm having JavaScript problems with NY Times, Washington Post also. Don't these guys test? Probably some crappy ad-network or tracking scripts anyway, genuine readability & content don't need that feud :-(
