When I add a link to the Toolbar that has a graphic in the icon associated with the website { e.g. the Wall Street Journal has a brownish square with a "WSJ" written in the icon} the icon is visible for a little while. After a I close Firefox and re-open the icon is changed to the default rectangular white icon. But after I click on the website the icon returns to the graphic desired by the website. The after a little bit of use, open/close the browser, etc., the icon reverts to the generic white page rectangle. After I click the icon/link, it returns to the websites' graphic. And so it goes, back and forth.

Also, this does not happen with all the icons, only about 30% of them. Nor does it seem to happen with any rhyme or reason. Sometimes it happens to the same icon/site, sometimes different ones.

Any ideas?

Are you using Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear data if you exit Firefox ?

If you do then maybe that is interfering.
Running Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode also can cause problems with favicons.
