I opened a profile that I had just used recently to a blank tab bar. I closed it and the sessionstore-backup folder did not have a recent backup, The most recent about a week old.

Just for testing, I tried to restore with one of the upgrade.jsonlz4 file, about 2 weeks old, but it also had no session. I then restored one that was 2 months old. That one had a session

Now, Firefox no longer generates the upgrade.jsonlz4 files

It always best to show the files in detail so that we can see the size of the files. see screenshot of mine You can see that the files were updated today. I have seen where an update or restart resets the files which is why I make a copy of the sessionstore-backups folder and try to update it every week or so.

I certainly support the concept of backing up important data.

As far as showing the files in detail, those three files In that image are properly dated. There's nothing else to see. I posted the image to show that there are no upgrade.jsonlz4 files being generated? It seems like more than a coincidence to not be related to my missing session issue.

This is not the first time I have a Firefox session corruption. I've never once found a reason or solution. That profile had the fewest tabs and addons of all my profiles, and doesn't contain any addons that don't exist in the others.

So if your files do not contain your session, then there's nothing else for us do here and you can mark it as resolved. Yes, I first noticed the session failure issue 5yrs ago and it continues to happen. Google does a far better job with session restore.

Can you at least explain what was resolved?

It's not fixed, definitely an ongoing issue which is why I advised making a a backup of the folder, but your session is gone so there is nothing more we can do here. Marking it as resolved closes the issue and removes it from the list. Any further questions?
