As far as I can tell, my history menu in the menu bar (the file, edit, view, etc place) is now showing a list of recent pages. I do not know why and I do not like this feature. I fear it can become annoying when I have dozens of tabs open at once. Is there any way to hide this?

Well the problem seems to have resolved itself. Not sure why.

Sometimes, though, I find that firefox takes a second or to to remember things that I don't want seeing. I wonder if this was a (very long) example of that.
