After a recent update there was a change on the Firefox Control Bar. To the right of the bookmark star icon another icon appears. When I click the bookmark icon I do not get the normal save options panel, instead a blue star jumps from that icon to the new icon. When I search for the new bookmark it is nowhere to be found. I am running Firefox 34 on a newly installed Windows 8.1 Pro X64 system. The problem still occurs in safe mode and after a reset.

hm, the website you're on shouldn't make a difference. can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once in order to make sure that none of your addons is interfering here...

hello, when you click the blue star again you can edit the details of the bookmark you have just created (that's the animation you were seeing), by default those will go into the unsorted folder with your bookmarks...

Hi Philipp,

Just discovered that it works for some sites but not for others. It doesn't work with You Tube.

Philipp,

As I said in my initial post, I have already gone through both the Safe Mode and Reset routes. It's not such a big deal. I can live without bookmarking stuff on You Tube.
