We have a company wiki with links to files on a local server, which were enabled with capability preferences in the user.js file. It stopped working with FF29. I have been following a bug report https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=995943 on the issue, which implies that the functionality was reinstated in FF30. However, nothing happens on clicking a link. I have searched, but can't find anything recent specific to this. Should it work with the previous user.js? OS is Windows 7.

There is a caps-fileuri.xpi available here - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=995943#c147

Click on - Comment on attachment 8415447 to install the extension or Right-click and use Save Link As ... to save that extension to disk.

Also, that "fix" may be included in the next ESR 31 version of Firefox.

I doubt if the Rapid Release Firefox versions will include that fix. More than likely only the ESR (extended support release) versions will get that fix, if it is included at all; it might only be available as an add-on.

The bug report implies that the add-on was a temporary measure and the functionality was being restored in FF30.

"This should be fixed (without the need for an add-on) on mozilla-central." ... "Verified as fixed using the following environment: FF Beta 30.0b5"

Can you clarify? Should we switch to the current ESR release (24.6.0)?

I have installed caps-fileuri v3, but it doesn't work.

So, nobody knows anything about this?
