I edited the user.js file in the past to get links to local network files to open. after the upgrade it stopped working. I went back to make sure the user.js file is still edited, it was. where else can I look?

Unfortunately support for such CAPS prefs has been removed as you can see because those prefs now show on the about:config page and are also saved to the prefs.js file where previously they were hidden.
