How can RSS be removed from bookmarks? I do not have it, and it is causing my bookmarks to not be functional
It seems that this began when I updated to FF version 16.0.1. I am afraid to update to version 16.o.2 until I can get this resolved. I am going crazy trying to determine how I can bookmark anything. My "history" is also completely blank as well No history is being saved. Any and all help will be appreciated most sincerely.
I am editing the above "subject" to reflect the following:
My question as it appears that should reflect that I just noticed that if I want to subscribe to this "feed", I must use the RSS, which I do not know what that is. So if that is not the problem, I do not know what else could be causing it. Apologies for the RSS reference. I do not know what that means.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Thank you for the advice, cor-el.
However, I tried both solutions with no result. I did find several files named places.sqlite, and one which was named sqlite.corrupt (10 MB). I deleted that one as well.
There are several files named sqlite. with different endings. I did not touch any of those. The old sqlite which I deleted per instructions has been replaced with a new one, however I am still unable to show any bookmarks at all, in any form under bookmarks. Since everything is blank I cannot import any bookmarks that I had saved either.
Is there any other method I could try, or should I just try to update to 16.0.2 version and hope that this problem does not perpetuate itself? If it would be a "clean" install, then there would be no more problems with this issue.
Thank you for the references, and help. It is sincerely appreciated. I am at an impasse and do not know what to do at this point in time as FF is useless to me without my bookmarks.

cor-el, I wanted to make you aware that I was able to solve the problem. I think that part of it was my lack of expertise, however the Bookmarks not opening was the major problem so I was unable to do anything.
This issue of the Bookmarks not opening was an problem that I could not resolve, so perhaps going through the instructions you provided did help. It must have been related to my successful importing of the bookmarks. I am a novice in this respect, and that is to my detriment.
Now I have so many "duplicates", I do not know how to get rid of them.
Thank you again for your most kind assistance.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
See:
You can also try to reset Firefox:
If that still doesn't work the do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 16.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Do NOT remove personal data if you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
My most sincere apology for being unable to respond to your last post in a more timely manner..
At the present time, I am unable to attempt to carry out the lengthy instructions relevant to my problem. I do not have the expertise, and due to my advance age, and other problems, I am hoping that at some point in time I will find someone who can assist me with this issue.
Once again, I do thank you for taking the time to provide information which I am sure would be most helpful to me with my present dilemma. I have noted you have been very helpful in answering many questions posted by other users. It is admirable that you donate your time in assisting so many others..
Warmest regards,
Boudica
