Computer crashed and all my settings changed

My computer just crashed and all my Firefox settings have resetted, none of the passwords are stored, none of my add-on settings are saved, my home page isn't saved, etc

I remember this happened one time, and I deleted prefs.js and renamed another file prefs.js and it worked (or I think that's what I did) I can't find out what I was supposed to do though. Does anyone know?

From what I've read it might've been renaming prefs-1.js to prefs.js, but I don't have a prefs-1.js

Is there a way of recovering an old profile? Alot of my old settings were very important

Solved the issue, there was a newPrefs.js file which I renamed to prefs.js and all my settings were in there

Does anyone know a good way to save profiles?
