firefox continues to not respiond

everytime I click on something, try and type I get the message firefox is not responding. This happens with every move I make. it has happened about 100 times already today. It freezes for about 15-20 seconds each time.

Did you try to reinstall Firefox with a new fresh profile? In addition, some of your plugins are outdated like Java, update them.

Hi, thank you for yourt reply. I am not sure what you mean by a new profile - also where do I find the plugins? Sorry, I am not very good with these things.
