Hardcoded Cloudflare DNS is EFFing ridiculous!
What in the world are you thinking!?!
Firefox fails to obey OS-defined DNS and instead overrides this to use …….Cloudflare? Are you nuts?
Whoever told you Cloudflare is private or secure failed to educate you on Surveillance Capitalism.
For the love of all that is good in this world, rekey Firefox to allow user-defined DNS- whether that is through DHCP, manual config or a management profile.

Hi atomshine,
You're posting in the iOS forum, but I don't think we have DoH on Firefox for iOS. Are you perhaps talking about the desktop version?
You should read my words more carefully- maybe quote them and think on them before replying.
My complaint -and problem- remains: Firefox for iOS is overriding OS-level defined DNS settings and there is no way to modify this within the app like there is in the desktop version.
In an earlier version of the iOS app the setting could be user-defined and it was honored- no more. Now it is Cloudflare DNS or Firefox for iOS will not function.
Kiki, be careful not to introduce ideas the original poster has not. And if you do introduce acronyms you must always define them when they are introduced so all readers know to what you are referring.
That said, nowhere did I mention DoH (DNS over HTTPS), DoT (DNS over TLS), or DoQ (DNS over QUIC).
What I plainly stated still stands and is still https://www.eff.org/ EFFing ridiculous: Firefox for iOS has hardcoded Cloudflare DNS and there is no way to change this.

You originally posted in a (desktop) connect.m.o thread about DoH, that was about a reddit post about (desktop) DoH, and (desktop) browser defaults provided based on region.
None of that is available or happening in Firefox for iOS, as it only relies on the underlying networking provided by the system. There's no custom resolver setup in FxiOS, and no "hardcoded Cloudflare DNS" anywhere in the source. If you have awareness of the place it's being set up (coming from remote settings collections if not set in code?) please do share that to help understand what you're referring to.
I can see FxiOS using the system resolver — being that a configuration profile of mine that I can easily validate.
(Are you sure you're not actually enabling iCloud+ Private Relay that might use parts of Cloudflare infra for its operation? That's however on the system level, for all WKWebView consumers alike…)
