Invisible messages in Inbox
I recently received two related messages (separately) from same domain name. The second was a survey. I completed the survey and assumed I had closed. Later I noticed a reference to the messages at the bottom of the screen so I closed using the [X] symbol on the message. I noticed later I could not see the messages in my inbox. I performed a search and they exist. But they are not visible in my inbox where the search shows they are.
How do I get the messages to re-display in my inbox?

Hi
Do you have your inbox displaying as "Conversations"? If there is a little icon like a bent twig in the first column of the message list, you may have replies, forwards and such related messages hidden under the main topic in 'threads'.
This article explains - and look at the picture at the start to see the column indicating this setting is on. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/message-threading-thunderbird

Hello Agnes
I was able to get messages back by performing a compact of the folder. The folder is meant to be automatically compacted - maybe it failed or did not reach the threshold for compacting.
Problem solved
Thanks for your help
