deleted emails go to gmail bin instead of Firefox Trash

When I delete a message in Thunderbird, the email goes to my gmail bin instead of Thunderbird Trash. If I accidentally delete something, I have to search the gmail bin for it. I'm not sure why it's going there and if you can help me fix it, I would appreciate it. I also don't know what that local folders is at the bottom in the figure. I don't use that at all.

Due to oddities in the google imap implementation some setting changes in Thunderbird are ignored so corruption of the mail account does not occur. You can not change the trash folder from the gmail default, nor can you change the archive folder.
