cant see totol count of messages in sent, trash etc

I cant remember how to get all folders area to show a count or total of Sent, Trash. So of course I dont know much trash I have. My inbox shows a count next to it like Inbox(25). One other new thing when i open a message it

View/Layout/Folder Pane Columns, then right-click any column button and select Total, Size, Unread.
