How do I get rid of "Send later"? Where did it suddenly come from?

Out of the blue, I can not send or reply to email. It only gives the "Send later" option. I read the previous replies to the same problem, but the icons aren't anywhere. When I right click the Send now option is grayed out. I'm at a total loss as to what happened.

See image for location of Online/offline icon. A red x appears when offline. Hovering your mouse over the icon displays the message in the image when offline. Click the icon to change states.
