After an update yesterday, Firefox will not launch. Nor will the Profile Manager, so I can't create a new profile as the website suggests.

When launching Firefox, the icon on the Windows taskbar lights up for a few seconds then fades. Nothing ever shows up in the Process list, so I know it's not actually launching. I tried uninstalling, downloading a new install and installing that but even that won't launch.

I'm assuming a profile somewhere has been corrupted. How can I just wipe all that out and start from scratch?

Hi, copy your Profile out :

use Revo Uninstaller

Download and install a Full Version Installer of Firefox from

Profile :

be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Dang -- I used Revo Uninstaller Pro. It ran the normal Firefox uninstall procedure, then I removed the profile stuff out of %appdata% and used Revo's registry cleanup. I selected everything there and it cleaned it out.

Then I grabbed a fresh installer from the link you provided and installed Firefox. The installer finished with the "Launch Firefox" checked and I OK'd that -- NO LAUNCH.

If I click the main application toolbar Firefox item to launch it, the icon lights up for a couple seconds then fades out. If I watch the Process list I can see Firefox start up briefly with just a little memory used then it disappears.

I have deleted everything I can think of, I didn't keep any old profile information around or anything -- This should be a clean install -- but it still fails to launch.

Any ideas?

BTW, I can see that Windows has saved crash reports for these in its WER/ReportArchive folder. The latest:

Hi, no does not really help as no crash ID. Did Revo delete the Profile folder after you used it ? If unsure please do so again and make sure the Profile Folder is deleted also. Then install again please.

Yes I deleted the entire profile folder, cleaned the registry, etc. As far as I can tell, everything related to Firefox is gone.

Beats me why it won't work on this machine -- works fine on all my others.
