I'm baffled. Having minimized a single message view, upon restore to full screen I can find no way to return from this to Thunderbird main screen. Have to close the message view and reopen Thunderbird. I have looked at listings of keyboard shortcuts but I have found nothing that works for me . What's the answer?

Chosen solution

When viewing the list of messages, double-clicking on a message should open it in a new tab, which also preserves the message list in it's own tab. If I understand correctly, you're asking how to go back to the message list tab, correct? Or is that tab not there at all?

Using the Ctrl-Tab shortcut allows you to cycle through each tab. Is that what you're looking for? I'm not sure.

Thank you, Chris! As it happens I'm old fashioned and avoid using Tabs (I have opted to "use existing message window) so that's not exactly what I was looking for but it's very useful in pointing me to the Tabs options. If I opt to open in a new Tab then your tactic may work well for me. I'm going to try that and consider this SOLVED. Thanks!
