Email links in Firefox (46.0.1) will not open a new message window in Thunderbird (45.1.0) if Thunderbird is already running. Only if Thunderbird is not running will a request to open Thunderbird result (windows 10.1) and the new message window will open. Solutions to open new message window while Thunderbird is running.
