Why cant i see my JUNK folder ?
under my inbox i can see drafts, sent and trash but no junk folder. i need this folder as people have emailed me things that may have been marked as junk.

By default Thunderbird places a Junk icon beside anything it thinks is Junk and leaves it in your Inbox. You have to go into junk controls and change that if you want a separate junk folder. From your question I doubt you did that.
Your provider might do Spam filtering. Check your account at your providers webmail site and see if there is a Spam folder.
