why does the inbox number of items not change when it is emptied?

My inbox shows more than 200 items when almost all of them have been read. Repairing the folder does not help. Neither does restarting Thunderbird or restarting Windows 10.

Chosen Solution

Typically Inbox still shows read messages, unless you deliberately changed the View settings. Not sure what your problem is though.
