What was your old mail-program? Thunderbird has two files for all mails within a folder, one container (mbox-type) and one index -file. Not a folder/directory with individual files as some others have. To transfer you most likely have to export from your old program and import into TB Transfering an address book very much depends on the stucture of that book.
